Brandi Cochran, a former model on The Price is Right, recently won a wrongful termination lawsuit she filed in 2010, according to TMZ. Cochran filed the lawsuit after she claims she was fired because of her pregnancy. Cochran became pregnant originally in 2007. She was so concerned about reporting her pregnancy to The Price is Right producers that she claimed the stress caused her to miscarry the child. One of the producers said it was “nature’s way of getting rid of a bad baby.”
Cochran became pregnant again in 2008, and once again was met with hostility in the workplace. Another producer commented “Wide load coming through” as she was passing him in the hallway. Cochran took disability leave due to complications arising from her pregnancy and was terminated shortly after. Cochran was awarded $775,000 in damages and compensation. Cochran could win more than that if a jury determines the show’s producers acted maliciously.
“[The verdict] was the result of a flawed process,” the production company said in a press release. “We expect to be fully vindicated after the matter has been reviewed and stand behind executive producer Mike Richards and the staff of The Price is Right.”
It seems at the very least the company fostered a hostile work environment. Visit our page for more information, and please contact our firm for a free consultation.
