According to the Southeast Texas Record, a Houston pathologist has filed a motion to withdraw an attorney representing her in a wrongful termination case as her counsel. Dr. Mary Yang entered a motion to remove the counsel in a case against Dr. Jameela Ahmeduddin, alleging Ahmeduddin has wrongfully terminated her employment. The wrongful termination suit claims the defendant’s actions violated the bylaws of the Mainland Pathology Associates.
Yang’s lawsuit alleges that Ahmeduddin sought illegal avenues to terminate her employment from Mainland Pathology Associates PA and remove her from its board of directors. Yang claims the group operated on shareholders’ share purchase and deferred compensation agreements from 2001 to present time. Yang became owner of 50 percent of the MPA shares last year. The MPA acquired the Cytology Associates of Houston, which experienced unsuccessful profitability, causing a strain in Yang and Ahmeduddin’s professional relationship.
Yang requested to remove her counsel and wishes to retain another employment attorney. The suit further explains that Ahmeduddin called for a special meeting to discuss termination to which the plaintiff objected. Yang requested financial information about the Cytology Associates of Houston, but the defendant never handed the documentation over. The plaintiff argues that the MPA must function with two directors, and she must maintain her position as she and Ahmeduddin are the only members.
