Employee Files a Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Over Photographs

According to the Reading Eagle, a Lehigh County woman and her husband have filed a lawsuit in Berks County Court accusing her former employment of sexual harassment. Jennifer and Joel Gift of Weisenberg Township, allege that David Laudadio, owner of Travid Sales, photocopied an image of Jennifer’s face and put it on 50 pornographic photos from December 2009 until May 2010.

The couple is seeking more than $50,000 and unspecified back pay from Travid Sales. Travid is a heating, ventilation and air conditioning company.

The quid pro quo sexual harassment lawsuit alleges that Gift worked as a sales assistant from February 2008 until May 13, 2010, when she resigned due to humiliation she suffered when the photos were put in her purse and her car, and sent to co-workers.

There are many forms of sexual harassment in a work place. Sexual harassment can create a hostile work environment from exposure to unwanted sexual advances or sexual photographs, and can create an offensive work environment. Sexual harassment is illegal under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. Supervisors and co-workers can be held accountable for the sexual harassment.
