Federal Officials File Suit Vs. Panda Express For Workplace Discrimination

According to the Silicon Valley Mercury News, a Panda Express restaurant in San Jose is being sued by federal officials, claiming that their Latino employees have been victims of discrimination at work.

The lawsuit alleges that only Latino workers were forced to clean toilets and perform similar tasks while Asian employees were permitted to watch and never forced to perform the same tasks as the Latino employees. The managers have also been accused of disciplining the Latino workers more frequently and harshly than the Asian workers.

Panda Express declined comment, saying they do not comment on pending litigation. It is shocking to hear this sort of news going on in the United States in 2011.  No employees should be subject to this kind of discrimination and humiliation.
