Former Employee Files Sexual Harassment and Rape Claims Against Shelby Enterprises

According to the Courthouse News Service, Carroll Shelby’s former personal assistant claims that Shelby sexually touched her and one of his employees drugged and raped her at Shelby’s house. The former employee accuses 88-year-old car legend of allowing a pervasively hostile work environment which discriminated against plaintiff on the basis of sex.

The woman, initials A.S., filed a lawsuit against Shelby, Carroll Shelby Enterprises and The Carroll Shelby Foundation, and the alleged rapist, David Evans. The plaintiff is seeking more than $5 million in damages.

The plaintiff claims she started working for Shelby in 2005 as a receptionist and became his personal assistant in 2006. Shelby made her work 7 days a week, spend her money on Shelby’s errands without reimbursement, and sexually and verbally abused her. On one occasion, Shelby groped her at his residential compound. Then, on or about December, 2010, Evans, an employee for Shelby, drugged the plaintiff and raped her at Shelby’s residential compound when Shelby was not there. Nothing was done to Evans after she reported the attack to her supervisors and Shelby and her supervisors refused to file a workers compensation claim for the workplace-related rape.
