Riverside County in California has agreed to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by a former employee for $490,000. Pamela Luna worked for First 5 Riverside, a county agency that funds children’s programs. In April 2011, she filed the lawsuit, claiming that Dr. Eric Frykman, the county health officer, was harassing her.
Luna claimed that Frykman made sexually suggestive comments directed towards her from September 2010 to April 2011.When Luna reported the misconduct to management at First 5, she was reprimanded and eventually terminated after filing more complaints against Frykman. The Riverside County Board of Supervisors agreed to the settlement amount of nearly $500,000.
“I feel the amount speaks for itself,” said Luna.
Not only did management fail in following up on Luna’s allegations, they punished the victim here. The inaction of First 5 was reprehensible and now they must pay the price. Please visit our site for more information on sexual harassment, and contact our firm for a free consultation.
