Nicole Rock, a 38-year-old flight attendant working for a billionaire in Michigan has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against her employer, according to sources. The complaint alleges that philanthropist Alfred Taubman repeatedly harassed her after she began working for his airline company in 2005.
The lawsuit alleges that Taubman would grope Rock, forcibly kiss her and even tore her clothing. When Rock, who is not married, became pregnant in 2009—the child was not Taubman’s—Taubman would make comments and even encouraged her to get an abortion. Rock reported the abuse to her supervisor to no avail. Rock took short-term disability leave in February of 2011 due to stress stemming from the harassment.
“The allegations contained in the complaint filed in court this morning against A. Alfred Taubman are not true,” read a statement from the defense. “Mr. Taubman will address the complaint through the appropriate legal channels.”
It is unacceptable that this egregious behavior was not addressed by management. This is a problem when the offending party is the owner of the company. Rock had nowhere else to turn. If you have experienced this type of abuse at work, please contact our firm for a free consultation.
