Catherine J. Roland
Los Angeles Employment Attorney
Catherine Jean Roland is an experienced litigator and trial attorney who is licensed in both California and Illinois. Catherine has spent a majority of her career fiercely advocating on behalf of her clients in cases ranging from wrongful discharge and discrimination to harassment and retaliation under state and federal laws.
Catherine has successfully first and second-chaired multiple jury trials and binding arbitrations. Her first trial resulted in a plaintiff’s verdict of close to $1 million in a sexual harassment case involving two minimum wage workers who were still in their 90-day probationary period when they were terminated. As a result, Catherine received an invitation to speak on the panel for CELA Member Victories at the California Employment Lawyer’s Association’s Annual Conference. Another notable trial verdict resulted in a $1.2 million dollar judgment in a disability discrimination case.
Employment Lawyer in Los Angeles With Million Dollar Settlements
In addition to negotiating several multi-million dollar class action settlements in wage and hour litigations against national employers, Catherine has also achieved numerous six and seven figure settlements for employees who have suffered discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and/or retaliation. Catherine’s work has earned her the honor of being named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers magazine for 2014, 2015 and 2017 – 2019. The Rising Stars list names the state’s top up-and-coming attorneys and represents no more than 2.5 percent of lawyers in the state.
Catherine also has past experience representing employers, and previously worked for Littler Mendelson, P.C., the nation’s largest employment and labor law firm, and as General Counsel of a venture-backed startup. This prior experience gives Catherine a unique perspective in the litigation of employment claims that has proven valuable to her representation of employees.
Catherine earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from Whittier Law School in California where she graduated seventh in her class. While in law school, Catherine served as the Solicitations and Symposium Editor for Whittier Law Review and as President of the Women’s Law Students Association.
