Another area of discrimination is gender discrimination. This is discrimination against someone based on what their gender is, are they male, are they female. It is absolutely illegal to make employment decisions about someone based upon their gender. Gender discrimination is typically seen as protecting women, because traditionally women have been the ones discriminated in the workplace. It used to be, back in the day, you would see ads that said something like looking for pretty young females to work as a receptionist. That is absolutely illegal and is no longer allowed. The bottom line is that California law protects gender identity just as it would any other protected category. For more information or to speak with an attorney, call (310) 997-4431
